Designed by Sydney Chura and inspired by a beetle's anatomic beauty, this garment emulates the shape and boning of beetle wings. Beetles are astoundingly strong considering the translucency of their wings, some even withstanding being run over by a car. This brute strength, coupled with the delicacy of what lies beneath their outer shell, reminds me of all the strong women I have called teammates throughout my 15 years of soccer. Modeled by my current teammate Ella Augustsson, Ella embodies this outer strength with a delicately sweet inside that I admire her so much for. This Garment is hand stitched and made from two thrifted pieces, a skirt, and a cardigan.
